Biography
1998-2004
Relicon was founded in 1998 by Antti-Pekka Meronen as a solo project. At first, he wrote all the
music and played all the instruments himself. After years of writing and honing his craft, he
released two demos: "The Darkness Project" in 2002 and "Inanimate" in 2003.
2004-2008
In 2005, Relicon grew into a five-piece band and released its third demo, "Hope Today/Wish Upon A
Star". A keyboardist joined later, and the band performed live a few times. As a six-piece, Relicon
released its fourth demo, "Measurements Of Mentality", in 2008. Not long afterwards, the band broke
up and its members went their separate ways.
2008-2012
After the six-piece lineup came to an end, Antti-Pekka returned to working on Relicon as a solo
project and began releasing songs online. Other artists contributed to some recordings, but he
handled most of the work himself.
2012-2017
Relicon was on hiatus from 2012 to 2017. Several recordings were made during this time, but none
were released.
2018-2024
In 2024, the band signed with WormHoleDeath and released an EP, "Consequences Of Disbelief", through
the label.
2025
Drummer Mikko Kuhno joined the band alongside bassist Tuukka Mauranen. Although Mikko was new to
the band, Tuukka had been its go-to bassist for many years before the hiatus began in 2012. The trio
recorded their second EP, "Ephemeral Triumphs", which was released through WormHoleDeath in 2025.
Tommi Palomäki also contributed saxophone parts to the track "Emergence". Following the release,
Tuukka left the band. At the same time, a bassist and a singer/lead guitarist joined Relicon.
2026
Relicon has been writing and rehearsing new material in preparation for live shows and the next
release. The band has also contacted local restaurants about hosting its first live performance, but
is still looking for the right venue.
